We taped this video of Matt a few days before his surgery and aired it this weekend at our worship services. We pray your heart is challenged and encouraged by it. Thank you for your continued prayers.
The following video can also be found on The Village Church YouTube Channel:

Thank you for posting this video for the rest of us outside of Dallas to see. It is a true witness to God’s sovereignty in the midst of suffering. We are blessed by Matt and the Village, here in Colorado.
man, that is some truth. thanks for your honesty. it preached. praying for you matty c.
This has been one of the most humbling weeks of my life as I have watched, listened, read and observed the way that you have both (Matt and Lauren) faced this painful situation.
I have been forced to my knees to pray for you and yet, as I do, I seem to want to pray for forgiveness for myself for not having lived out my faith in a way that Paul expresses in Phil 1:20 and how you are living now…
“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.”
You are not ashamed, you are full of courage, you are exalting Christ.
Thank you for continually pointing me towards Christ and Who he is.

Hi, my name is Emily. I have never had the pleasure of meeting you. I came across this video from a friend I never thought of it as God deeming us worthy to put us through struggles to show that He is enough. God wrecked me with this. Thank you for sharing this. It is so encouraging. You and your family are in my prayers!

Watching the video, I find my spiritual focus becoming steered toward the goodness, the sweet mercy of the God of Matt Chandler. God will be Glorified and who better to use to point countless others to Himself than a man that has been an instrument for so long and for so many. Matt Chandler is loved, His Glorious Savior and King is being praised…Isaiah 66 “Let the Lord be glorified that we may see your JOY”
What a powerful testimony! Can’t wait til you are back yelling at us! Praying for you!
Dear brother – saw your silly message earlier – it is hard sitting up, please rest assured we are praying for you – take your time dear brother know that your Father is watching over you. His will be done…
You have friends all over the world, but I know you have one other BIG Friend and I pray His healing hands may rest on your body that He will restore you and that we can see His miracles at work – not that we need miracles.
I marvel at the great faith of Matt Chandler. I am beseeching God to restore him to good health. However, as Matt says, “Thy will be done.” Matt is truly one of the great ambassadors of the Lord. I continue to pray for him, his wife and children.
Praise God for what He’s done in Matt. I pray He does it in me too.
I love you pastor. Continuing to pray for you. THIS was one of your best messages ever–preach the word,in season and out, right?
I am praying for you Matt and your family and the Village. You have affected my life in many ways. Thank you. God is in control. Isn’t that so cool. I love you and I love the work God has given you to do. I pray that you will be able to continue it in the future. But if that does not happen He has a way of getting things done. And that we can always count on.
proud this brother is my teacher. struggle well MC. God love you.
Hi Matt,
My heart and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. I have prayed from God for your restored health, and a full recovery. You have done so much in my life personally, and I thank God for your involvement through your sermons that are posted on the village church website.
You have been instrumental with my growth in Christ, and I listen to your sermons all the time. In my time with God concerning you… I got the feeling, call it whatever you want, it doesn’t matter… but I truly felt that God has this in His hands. I believe you will recover completely, but in any case, I know that He has it in His hands, so not to worry, I guess is what I am trying to say.
Be strong, and I thank God for you and your inspiration into my walk with Christ, and the insight that you have given me. You are truly a man of God, Matt, and you have done so much for the Kingdom. It is my firm belief that He has so much more in store for you, and my confidence in that is unshaken.
I pray for a speedy recovery for you, and look forward to listening to more sermons from you in the future…
Your brother in Christ,
Terry Wentzell
Amen! And thank you brother for sharing your heart with us! We hope and pray for the doctors and that the Lord keeps you here for a while longer for our selfish benefit….to Him be the glory for His sovereign providence in our lives….you are in our prayers brother as you face this road block in your life..

Matt,
Thank you for this massage, you are truly an inspiration to many. God knew what He was doing when He called you into His ministry as a messenger for Him.
I first heard you speak at our DNOW several years ago and I walked away from that weekend challenged and motivated to continue to seek God’s will for my life.
And as the years have gone by I have had the priviledge of hearing you speak at several of the Catalyst conferences and the most recent LEAD Now conference. And once again I walked away encouraged and motivated to continue to serve our Lord and to grow in my knowledge of the scriptures. Thank you for serving a mighty God who is loving and gracious to us all. I am praying that you have a quick recovery for I believe your work is not finished here, but this bump in the road is a way for our Lord to once again show to all that He is a mighty God who can do mighty things and he has chosen you for a time such as this. Many prayers for you and your precious family.

I find my fingers forgetting how to type. I cannot express the gratitude your entire family, and The Village, has meant to me. The funny thing is I’ve never been to Texas, let alone your church…but through Mars Hill Church in Seattle…that is how I first listened to your message. I cannot thank Jesus enough for you. Thank you for being faithful to HIM. Thank you for loving family, faith, and truth. Thank you for everything! My life will never be the same because of your obedience to the Word of God. Thank you Pastor Matt…Thank you Lauren…Thank you Village…Thank you Jesus!

Thank you for your witness, your bravery, and your courage. You have lifted me out of years of regret over my son’s death and have given me hope where it did not exist before. My name is Jacque Broomell. I am a registered nurse. My 29 year old daughter is battling brain cancer. She has been a patient of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Duke University, Durham, NC since August, 2007. I strongly recommend that you contact them as soon as possible. We are believers in Jesus Christ as savior and lord and place our faith and trust squarely in Him. Our daughter is here today, with her husband and three small children (ages 7, 4, and 2) thanks to God’s grace and Duke. You may contact Duke at the following: http://cancer.duke.edu/btc/
I cannot say enough good about their program. We looked at Massachusetts General, Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson but decided to go with Duke. We have no regrets. God Bless you. We are praying for you.

I praise God for this authentic praise. He is worthy of love praise in all days. I asked God to show me the sun in a beautiful way a few days ago. and just when I was beginning to forget that prayer, today I was walking into the sanctuary and as I walked down the aisle to my chair, I looked out the first window and out of it I saw a tree that looked as if it were lit up with little blue lights because the 9am sun was lighting it from behind in an amazing way. I love how God shows us Himself in such intimate ways to say His love loud and clear. I will be praying for you Matt.

Pastor Matt,
1. I love that even when you are facing this massive challenge you still have your humor. You still make me laugh even though you are dealing with this.
2. I love how Biblical you are in dealing with this. It brings me joy and uplifts my soul. It makes me crave Jesus more. In your words, it stirs my affections for Jesus.
3. In general … your an awesome man of God who has been influential in my own walk. You came to Minnesota one time and spoke at a Campus Outreach meeting and did your whole “who wants the rose” thing. It was life changing.

Matt,
I have been NOTHING BUT BLESSED every time I have had the opportunity to hear you preach at The Village while visiting friends and having the privilege to hear you at the RightNow.org conference a few weeks back. You have truly been anointed by the Lord and you have spoken “daggers” into my heart that are from the Father, in Love, every time I have come into contact with you. You always seem to “nail” me down and hone in on my circumstances and where I am in my walk and what I know needs to be improved, and I KNOW that is of GOD and HIM ONLY! Thank you for being so obedient, and I’m praying and ready for God to bring about, yet another, mighty victory through you and this trial.

Thank you for using the platform God has given you to redefine what is “good.” Good is God and what he does. Whether we shut the mouths of lions or are sawed in two, it is GOOD because it is of God.
Praying for you and your family.
Please know that you are in my family’s prayers. We started praying for you yesterday in our Sunday morning service when our Pastor John Meador shared your need. Ralpha, God the Healer is with you. Almost five years ago my ago, my 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with a jpa (juvenile pylocytic astrocytoma) in her cerebellum and before surgery she said, “Don’t be worried, I’m saved. If I die, I’ll be in Heaven with Jesus.” But she didn’t die. February will be 5 years post resection and she’s doing great and serving our Lord and Savior. God is faithful and will supply both yours and your family’s need. He meets us at our need. Draw close to Him and enjoy total dependence on Him.
Blessings to you and yours!
Susan

Matt, thank you for your labor in the word. I have gleaned much. Most of all it has really encouraged me to dig much deeper for myself. Can’t wait to hear the impact that this trial is going to have on your preaching! And yes, God is always enough.
I think I can speak for all who love you Matt and say that what you have seen in this time of struggle is a direct result of what your obedience to the Lord has brought you. Gospel community. We love and are praying for you daily and look forward to lots of passionate words from you in the future. I can’t wait to see how God molds you in this time and I pray that you will experience even more of the favor and grace that the One we serve longs to give each of us! Blessings
May God’s peace be with you and may he comfort you and your family during this time. I lost my father, also a pastor, to kidney cancer just over five years ago. While it was tough, and still is at times, the thing that made all the difference was his attitude and his desire to praise and give God all the glory even in the midst of all that he, and we, went through. My father has always had a great impact on my life, but nothing as profound, perhaps, as how he handled that situation. He impacted everyone he came in contact with during that time and there were nurses and doctors and patients that came by to tell us, his family, how much he had blessed them and how much he had taught them through his tragedy.
My prayers for you are for healing, but even more that God will use you and your situation to change lives for his glory and for his kingdom. I pray for peace and comfort and for miraculous things to come from this. Thank you for demonstrating faith in extraordinary circumstances. You are an encouragement.
Just watch the video. Powerful…
We pray for you and your family, the church and all the Pastors that will need to carry on in spreading the word of our lord.
May God keep you in his hands and heal your body.

Thanks so much for posting this video. I have missed the village for over 2 yrs now, living in Portland. However, I never stop praying for the powerful things that God is doing there and this trial is just another way that God is moving. He is being so called upon, glorified, and active; which is so powerful to see in a culture where people say “God is dead.” Thank you Lord for being active and alive.
This is a season of gifts, and God always gives us good gifts.
“For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake” (Phil 1:29).
Matt, thank you for proclaiming Jesus as your greatest treasure in seasons of blessing and for receiving with humility the gift of suffering for this season.
You are joining with the tens of thousands of saints who have said through the ages, “I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ” (Phil 3:8).
May we all suffer the loss of all things, including blessing and suffering, so that we might gain Christ.

My daughter and I have been attending The Village Church since March, and we always come to service with a notebook, ready to listen and learn, ready for our hearts to be convicted. Pastor Matt, you have impacted more lives than you can ever know. I was touched by the message you took the time to tape in the midst of turbulent times. Your faith, your confidence, your love for the Father, your love for us showed through…it dispelled all feelings of confusion and despair. As you were entrusting your life into the loving hands of a sovereign and good God, we too knew we could trust the life of our pastor and shepherd into His capable hands. As always, you preached truth to us and challenged us even as you yourself were being challenged. Our love and prayers are continaully with you, Lauren and your children. May God continue to strengthen you and pour healing into your life as you fulfill your God-given mission here on earth!
“Sipping coffee as a 70 year old man, walking your daughter down the aisle, seeing your son grow up…None of those things are better than Him.” Thank you Matt.
Wow!!! Matt, I am blown away by the sweet trust in our Savior you exhibit at a crossroad of great testing. I know that this great trust blooms out of the love of Jesus that casts out all fear. I am so filled with gratitude to God for your life. It seems to me to be so strange that just a few years ago I was sitting in the back of a classroom at Texas City High School Bible Club as one of the pastoral sponsors, watching you talk to your peers about the power of the Holy Spirit. “What could we do in our world and generation if we just received this free gift from God that so many churches tell us is not for us today?” Your zeal inspired me. I have told that story to many since then. When I found out about your ministry in Dallas, I was not surprised to hear of your success. I am thankful to have known you from those formative years, at least your senior year.
Your message in this video is beautiful. The night my son died, my Dad reminded me of Jacob – in the cave when God was about to change his path and set him on a new plain of spiritual legacy – and he said, we’ll just walk with a limp after this, but it will serve the glory of His Kingdom. Your greatest days are ahead of you, man of God. I love you and am praying for you, as I know thousands are. Be healed and rise up into complete restoration, in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
Our prayers as a team and family are with you. Thank you for living out your faith under the severest of circumstances.
I will keep you and your family in Prayer, May GOD BLESS YOU!

Matt,
We are praying for you and following your progress. My wife and I have listened to your sermons and have enjoyed the gifting given to you by our gracious Lord.
To see you suffering well is a great encouragement.I am reminded of Paul’s words to the Philippians.
Phil. 2[12] I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really *served to advance the gospel, [13] so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that *my imprisonment is for Christ. [14] And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold *to speak the word without fear. (ESV)
Replace chains with pain and you are encouraging all of us to live for our Lord in a greater degree. He is good!
We have put this video up on our blog also and have asked everybody to join in praying for you dear brother.

Praying for Matt… AN encouragement to me. Taylorsville KY
Thank you Matt, bless you and your family, you have been a great blessing and I praise our Heavenly Father for all He is doing through you…..
Dear Matt,
I pray for your peace in the midst of trial and I ask that the Lord would continue to use you as a flaming torch. Your example is a blazing lamp to me and I thank you for availing yourself to God in the way you have. He is ever sovereign and I know that He never fails.
In Christ,
Christian
Hi Josh,
A friend of mine posted a link to your video on his Facebook and even though I know nothing about you or your ministry, I wanted to leave you a comment anyway.
A year ago this past August I went through the exact same thing. One night out of the blue I had a siezure and was taken to the hospital. They ran an MRI and found a mass. The follow-up CAT Scan showed I had a fist-sized brain tumor on my left side and would need to have it removed.
From that very moment I had a complete peace that God had a plan for me to have that tumor. (As a side note, I was just about to turn 32, and like you, I have 3 kids.)
The amazing stories I could tell you that the Lord has done, could fill a book. I blogged the entire event on my band’s MySpace page and the encouragement was overwelming.
I KNOW the Lord will use this to do great things in your life and the lives connected to you. I’m a walking testimony to it! Thank you for making this video and reminding me of the blessing God did in my life by bringing me through my brain surgery.
God bless!
ps: Your typing/texting skills will return with practice. Believe me, I know. lol
I think Matt’s situation highly relates to why God called Gideon a mighty man of valor.
Judges 6:12 The angle of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The Lord is with you, O valiant warrior.”
O, death where is your sting? Satan will regret the day he faced the kingdom of God.
Matt,
I loved seeing this video and I have counted it a privledge to be under you and be a part of this body. It has been a great privledge to pray for you.
As I was praying for you I came across the verse Isaiah 30:20. You may not ever know ‘why’ this happened but through this you have been promised to be shown the Teacher.
Is. 30:20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher (ESV)

Pastor Matt,
We just saw your video clip and wanted to reach out to you and let you know that we have been exactly where you are. We continue to trust in God and follow on his path. My husband Scott was diagnosed with Stage 3, Anaplastic Astrocytoma Glioma Brain Cancer. It could not be resected and was told he was terminal….NINE MONTHS TO LIVE! Scott, an Air Force pilot was crushed but chose not to give up or believe the “practicing” doctors.
Scott had his first seizure on the plane in Germany, was medivaced to Walter Reed in Washington DC where he had many, many tests, a surgical biopsy and started chemotherapy and radiation. We have trusted in God and continue to believe he is the true almighty healer.
Scott’s doc now tell him his official name is “DATA.” He has not given up, continues to fight and let me tell you, he started his 24th and FINAL round of chemotheraphy today. Know that you are not alone. Please know in times when you need to reach out to someone, esp. if your wife or children are in need of anything, please know that we are here for you. We will check back in to see how you’re doing and when things are not as overwhelming as I’m sure they are now, you may call or email us. We’ll be praying for your entire family, as it affects everyone in your home.
God bless,
Shelly & Scott Perkins

You’re in my prayers. It’s crazy watching your video b/c I just experienced something similar (I’m praying yours in non-cancerous too!) I blogged about it here: http://virginiamd.wordpress.com/2009/09/16/what-a-week-2/
I’m now 10 weeks after my surgery and feeling great, back to coordinating kids at the church and picking up my own! (Except the itchy head and crazy haircut for a girl!) I’m praying for a quick, healthy recovery, and no side effects from the medicine.
Thanks Matt. Were praying for you and praising Jesus with you.
What a blessing and an encouragement you are,Matt. Praying for you and your family and look forward to your quick return.
I was surprised when God led me to fast and pray for Matt last Friday, having never met him, but watching this video made me glad I did. God is getting a lot of glory through this, and it blessed me in a deep way!
God bless you during this time. What a precious message. May His healing power flow. You are a blessing!!!
What a blessing from God you are to so many people. The mindset you have and the praise you give God especially in this time of your life is such a wonderful thing! I don’t know you and have not been to your church but know that I am praying for you and your family. My family received similar news the day before Thanksgiving, but we know God has this and He is the Almighty Physician and there is no better hands to be in. God bless you and your family.

Thanks. This really means a lot. It’s super encouraging. I don’t know you, and actually I’d never even heard of your ministry until today. But thank you for being a blessing to others even in the hard times…
Suffering is the badge of the Believer. None of us are exempt as we travel the road of sanctification, despite the Bible Belt delusion of ease and comfort in this wilderness wandering. Trials make us long for the promised land where we will see our Savior as He is and we will be like Him.
Matt, we have been and continue to be so blessed by God’s mission for your life. Our prayers for you and your family continue without ceasing…

Oh how awesome is out God…what a true man of God to even give God the praise even through all that he is going through. This video touched my heart so that words can not even explain. You are right about how God supplies the strength for us….for the joy of the Lord is our strength..you and the family are in my prayers. Your testimony lies ahead….May God bless you
All I can say is “wow”… What an example for myself and others to live by… I have been a follower of the village and Matt for about 3 years. The thing which has stood out most to me is that “Christ is enough…” no matter what. To hear that message come through even clearer now is nothing short of inspiring. You are and your family are in our prayers…
What an amazing show of faith. All the best to you and your family.

Hey Matt, (Jeff here- FBC McKinney)
Don’t know if you’ll actually read this but I need to say it (to someone other than the Father) so, here goes. You are loved and you are being prayed for by our crew at FBC and other friends of mine in McKinney. You may know that my wife Stacy and I have been through cancer this year and though it’s been tough, we are better for it. Through this time I’ve realized anew what the Book of Job is all about. In the end, Job doesn’t get his answers; He gets something better: He gets God. After all his trials, He says, “I thought I had seen Him but now I know Him.” I pray that this is your story- I have a sense that it will be. God is always good and worthy of our praise. Thanks for preaching the BEST sermon you’ll ever preach- with your life in the days to come.
Love to you, Lauren, and the kiddos,

Matt- You & your family have been in my thoughts & prayers since your situation was made known to me. The power of prayer is AMAZING! I’ve had a few life threatening events since the first of the year & believe the power of prayer has brought me through. I pray your recovery will be swift & complete! I’ll also pray for your wife & family to take care of themselves. May God give you all the strength you need to deal with all of this.
Matt, you don’t know me, but you may know my nephew, Ric Garland. 3 years ago I was taken to the hospital where they found a brain tumor. When they told me I froze for about 5 min., but then went immediately to my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, the only one who could get me through without numbing fear. I felt His presence immediately. Despite all the negative things the doctors expected, God brought me through miraculously and the surgeon had to admit that there was no other explanation. Like you, I felt honored to be able to point others to His goodness and power.
Matt,
I am deeply humbled and equally convicted by your video. I find that your genuine faith sparks in me a desire to live and struggle as faithfully and with as much love as you have. May the Lord bless you richly for your service to Him and your profound blessings to us.

……but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me; and I do not know which to choose. But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith, so that your proud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus through my coming to you again.

Dear Matt & Family,
God be with you all!! Matt, I have not had the pleasure of knowing you, your family or your church. This information came to me through a devotional I recieve. I feel it was sent from God. You are an inspiration to all. I can only pray that put in any situation, large (like what you are going through) or small I would be able to have and display the kind of faith you have shown. Knowing there is still pain, saddness, etc. I can see that God is working in you, nonetheless. I have been struggling with my own pains, physical and emotional and have wondered sometimes how I could go on. This video has challenged me to a stronger, more intense faith in my Father. I will be praying for your complete recovery and Gods will be done in your life. Again, love in Christ to you and your family as well as those in your church.

I was sent your video by Daughters of Promise, Christine Wyrtzen, this morning. I have had to deal with all that you are saying because this summer I was diagnosed with an extremely rare bone marrow disease called Myelofibrosis. It in incurable and the majority of people with it succumb to the disease within 5 years. I am 53 years old and certainly not ready to leave this earth very soon. I will take the 80 years old watching my great grandkids
.
But I know my Jesus and I know for a fact that His will for me is perfect, right, good because He is good all the time. I will use this to God’s glory, not my own, as you will, also. We will continue to fight the good fight doing all and being all in His magnificent Name. “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen” Praying for you and your family, Pastor. By the way, my husband is also a pastor.
Matt, I’m so grateful my Facebook friend directed me to your site because you and I have soooo much in common! God reached down and plucked me on January 15, 2009. I endured a Category 1 Dissected Aorta. I was clinically dead for 55 minutes that day until God, with His almighty hand and heart, rose me up. You can read my testimony at http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?v=app_2347471856&ref=profile&id=1287563745
Since that day, my eyes have been opened to Him more than ever before. I truly feel Him LIVING within me. At EVERY opportunity, I praise Him and I now seek “excuses” to spread the word of His goodness.
At the medical facility where I was saved, they have coined me as “the miracle lady” and their Marketing Director is using me to further promote their standard of excellence. A good, honorable challenge yet I look it as an open opportunity to further my efforts to draw “the lost” towards Him. So am I glad I endured the massive pain and grueling recovery from open heart surgery? YES! For had I not been CHOSEN, I wouldn’t have SEIZED the opportunity…it’s as simple as that.
Sorry for my verbose comments but it’s nice to meet people of like experiences. God loves us all. It’s how WE choose to love Him back that counts.
May He bless you and your family as He has blessed me and mine.
Thank you Matt for continuing to pursue Christ and encouraging all of us to do the same. I am a 2nd Lt in the Marine Corps and currently going through training in Quantico, VA. This is the Gospel lived out in shoe leather. Matt, the glory of God rests upon you and your family. May God’s will be done in you. “He goes before you, behind you and holds you in His right hand.”
Grace and peace to you and your family.

I almost did not post a message because there are so many messages just like mine, but even if I’m one in a million lives you touched, I want you to know that I am one life you touched. I was first in your “flock” as a teenager in Abilene attending Grace. I used to get cassette tapes with your message and listened to them until my East Texas dormmates knocked on my door to tell me to turn you down because you yelled too much. I now listen to your podcast every week and have grown so much since I started downloading it a little over a year ago. I am praying for you and for all the people whose lives your life has yet to touch. Thank you so much for your ministry. Thank you so much for surrendering your life to God so that He can have a voice to speak to sinners like me. I do not know you but know that I would not know my Father like I do without you. This makes me know you and love you as much as I ever could. Thank you for acknowledging that and for posting this video and the messages for all of us strangers to see. It lets us feel your love in return.
Continuing to hold you and your family in prayer.
thank you so much for sharing this. I saw in on fb and had spent the day dwelling on what I dont have instead of how blessed and highly favored i am. this changed my whole attitude. who cares what is going on in my life I need to praise my Lord and Savior if for nothing else but for the others who are watching and the impact it has on them. You did that for me without knowing it and I thank you

After viewing this vidio my first thought was to pray that God gives you a full recovery as you are a man who lives his Christianity and a valued worker for the advancement of God’s glorioius kingdom. My second thought was that this was an amazing attitude to have and then recanted as this should be normal Christianity.
I once read a book about a man named Robert Chapman who was a pastor in a small town in southern England. Charles Spurgon said of him, “He is the godliest man I know.” Something Chapman wrote was, “There are many who preach Christ, but not so many who live Christ. My aim will be to live Christ.” Matt you are one who lives Christ and may God grant you many more years to live and proclaim Christ.

To the Family of Matt Chandler.
I was on facebook and I was ask to support a group to pray for you and I did this. I have never heard this man teach or speak. I often go to tangle for praise and worship and to share the love of Christ with others I am friends with online. I saw the video posted on tangle and felt a need to watch it. Watching this video I saw God’s amazing strength reaching up out of this man and it touched me so much I can’t put it into words. The video had only been watched 43 times. This is one of the most powerful messages I have ever heard and one that I will enterally be greatful for. I have never seen such a display of grace and humility. I looked in to this man’s eyes and I saw Jesus speaking through him. I went back to the group that was formed to pray for him and I posted this video on the page. There were 23,000 people praying for his recovery. In this video this man was praying for our recovery. I hope this video reaches those 23,000 because I will post it anywhere and share his message with everyone. Through this awful experience of what has happened to him and his family he demonstates his faith, courage, humility and the most precious grace and was a blessing for me while he was so uncertain about himself. What a true example of what Christ called us into. I pray for his recovery and that he can continue on with his ministry. This is a perfect example of how Christ can work into us when we are the very weakest and most vunerable and give us strength that surpasses all understanding of the human mind. Know that God is with you and there will be blessings that follow and may the Lord continue to rest upon you and your family.

I reach out to the Lord and pray that he will hold your life and health in his mighty hand, that he breathes upon your space wherever you go, I pray that the Lord will guide your medical team with his miraculous ways…i pray that the love I see in your eyes for our maker will come to pass where you will again stand before your church family and continue to teach the Word, to feed the spirtually hungry wherever they may be…that all will heed your word as you are obviously a true messenger of the Lord……peace and blessings of Christ be with you everyday of your life……….Veronica Montiel

This is wonderful, the faith that you have in knowing that God will work His will in your life for the good.
Rom 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called accordinjg to his purpose.
And in phil 4:19 says; And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
I believe God will use this to make you become a better Pastor and pray that you will continue and not be weary in well doing. May God grant you a speedy recovery.
God Bless you, and your work in Jesus our Lord Amen.

I discovered you on iTunes and have been listening for a few years I think. You bring a clarity to the gospel that I was searching for in this era of post modern this and neo-Calvinist that. I’m 52 and married with three teenage children. For 43 years my life just fell comfortably into place. Nine years ago I lost my job after 18 years. I developed a gambling habit and shook that demon off off a few years ago. Then last May they discovered a 2-inch malignant tumor on my kidney. They removed it and there was no evidence at the time that it had spread. I am doing pretty well. I have never really felt sorry for myself or cheateed in any way. Everyday I can just taste God’s Grace. I know that these things have happened to me because I refused to obey on my own. I have always wanted to live my life my way knowing all along that it was empty and futile. God has helped me to realize that there is joy in the unknown….not anything to be afraid of. Security and predictability is something we seek as simple animals. God gives us the courage to relish the unpredictible and love the stranger. My prayers are with you on your journey.

Blessings Matt,
I recieved your video through a family memeber and was deeply moved by your conviction. This year has been something I would have never predicted. Having been in ministry for 25 years and losing our home and no longer in ministry, I continue to see God’s faithfulness. Your message deeply moved me and forces me to ask some tough questions of myself. I know God is good and that our days are in His hands. I am praying for you and your family.

Matt, I was blessed from so far away from one of the members of your church and I dont even know him. He is the brother to one of the assistant pastors of my church in Texarkana. He has been so moved and encouraged by your sermons that he fears staying connected to God without you. You had made such an impact in his life, I knew I had to hear more about your story. I saw your video and read your updates, man what a soldier for Gods Army you are. It’s trials like these that God chooses his warriors, and live or die, the testimony of faith is the VICTORY!!!!!God bless you brother, I’m praying for you and your family. Glad to be on the winning side with you.
In God’s Love,

Matt has greatly encouraged me… I am so thankful for his ministry.
i just watched your video and i’ve been praying for you since you got the news last week. 5 years ago i, too was diagnosed with a frontal brain tumor. it was your exact same size. it’s aprrox an inch by 1/2 inch- size of a grape. i was miss diagnosed with a more aggreesive tumor than i really had. md anderson got the correct diagnosis. i had 1/2 of one percent it was the better kind to have and the good Lord landed right in the middle of the small chance. at the time i prayed for God’s perfect and complete healing. i knew i had no choice than to, 100%, believe in what i was asking of my God. it was inoperable b/c of its location – in my motor strip-i had some radiation procedures and am not only tumorfree but cancerfree! Praise GOD1!!! i knew from the begining, God had a special purpose for me…and 5 years later he’s still showing me that purpose everyday. a friend sent me a card that said, ” God won’t see you through NOT somehow BUT TRIUMPHANTLY! i hung to that phrase and still do. now i’m passing it to you to hold and believe and proclaim. i’m continuing to lift you today and the days ahead. i’ve listed my email above. contact me if you need to share with someone who has been there done that. keep pressing on and giving God the glory.
blessings!

Through this challenge you now face, your message of God’s faithfulness is reaching people around the world, not just in your sanctuary. All praise to God for His unspeakable and matchless glory and His perfect will.
He has found you worthy of the honor of praising Him and propelling His name to many more than you ever dreamed.
Why are you here? the question I wish I had stamped on my eye balls. Every time I say can’t, won’t or impossible … every time I avoid someone because I don’t have time or get upset because things are not going my way. Every time I think my life is harder than the next person’s life. Every time I forget that God has given to me time and time again the things I DO NOT deserve, I ask myself this question. I have messed up over and over and over and over and yet he still walks up, me lying on the cold hard ground, he picks me up again. God looks at me and says I forgive you and I love you so much that I am going to give you the strength to get up again. I can not imagine what the Holy God of the universe is thinking.
As I watched Matt Chandlers video I am astounded at the glory that is being given to God… this man is experiencing great obstacles and he would not be judged if he broke down and lost it. Instead he has been given strength by God to absorb all the wonderful things of God and reflect them back to us. I was so struck by the part where Matt kept saying that he could not believe that God deemed him worthy enough to carry the burden of cancer, can you believe this ?!? he is counting it a blessing to be able to go through this and in the midst reflect the amazing God of the universe. His attitude removes any foothold the devil could have in this. All fear is removed, all anger is removed… I mean, no we do not fully understand God’s plan and what will become of this. We do know the things Matt and his family are going through are scary and no doubt one of the hardest things they will have to go through. But my plee to everyone is that Matt’s words would not go unnoticed, that the amazing grace and glory of God would be seen for what it is. That we could see the majesty of Jesus through this and use it to touch more people, to run with what God has given us and to use every opportunity on this earth to fight for the truth and give it to all. And also just to pray for Matt Chandler and his family that they would feel God’s peace and mercy like never before.
Please don’t forget how God has provided for you in the wilderness and don’t forget that we don’t know how many days we have on this earth. Matt Chandler does not know how long he has on this earth, he hopes, as do all of us that he will live to be 70+ sitting drinking coffee but we don’t know. I just ask that God would give us the strength and desire to live with passion for him and his people every moment of every day.
Matt,
I think we live in such an amazing time. Your impact on the church — locally and globally has been awesome. I love your teaching and have really been blessed so richly.
This is devastating… my 13 year old daughter has said “it makes you ask why God does certain things” I will show her this video later today. I pray that God will be glorified. I have been crying off and on since last night when I read about your latest report.
Blessings on you, your family, friends and church body.
A brother in Christ.

I was so moved by your message. My husband and I are praying for you and your family and know that God is being glorified through your trials. MAY GOD BE THE GLORY!!
My friend Josh is an intern at the Village, and while on the road with him for Invisible Chidren, we would listen to Matt’s sermons in the van. I was blessed enough to come and hear Matt in July and have been listening to the podcasts when I get the chance. I thank Christ for the Chandlers and am praying for them through this. No matter what happens- ALL GLORY TO THE LORD for he is good and will make His will done. It’s all in his hands and will bless us with Matt as a vessel for encouraging us, even from a far in the future, or will take Matt home. I love you all, my Texas brothers and sisters in Christ. Matt,
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Thank you for blessing me everytime your mouth is open teaching the word. Thank you for the time that you spent at Metro Bible Study in Houston where I first heard you tell great stories of your life, and I got an ab workout from laughing while being challenged by the word at the same time, and where I met you and your beautiful wife, Lauren.
I listen to your podcast from time to time and follow Lauren’s blog to see your cutie patootie family.
I am praying for you and your family. I am praying for your church. I am thanking God for your life.
Thank you for sharing your life, and the gospel of God as well.
If Houston is an option for treatment, we will open our arms and care for you here.
Blessings and love and prayer, sweet brother.

Matt… as my bride Kate and I prayed for you, Lauren and your family. We once again engaged with the suffering and righteousness of our God. What we did not yet realize was that this would be preparation as wednesday we learned that my mom has cancer and will go into surgery in a week and then tonight I learned that my dad also has cancer and will go into surgery to remove organs the day after my mom. We head home to preach our Lord’s sufficiency… HE WILL BE GLORIFIED!!

just wanted you to know, i have never attended your church and i recieved this video from a friend. This video has confirmed many things for me. God has been speaking to my heart on these matters and I too have lead a very blessed life. I have often wondered how i would react in times of struggle. The times that you and your family are facing right now are the things that bring life back down to a manageable level. All of the things that we concern ourselves with on a daily basis tend to fade and the real “blessings” of God, like family, are all that matter. I want to say thank you for sharing the not so glamorous side of faith. We all rejoice when the new house or the new job come, but your situation has shown that we should rejoice in ALL things. I want you to know that my family will benifit from me seeing this video. You have reminded me of the things that are most important. We were recently blessed with a healthy baby girl (now 3mos) and all I have been worrying about is how to provide the “things” she needs. tonight I will appreciate the joy in her eyes and the warmth of her touch just a little bit more. Today I will hold my wife in a caring way. From the bottom of my heart I thank you. You will be in my prayers, and in all things to God be the Glory.

Matt, Lauren, and family,
My heart is torn open for your family right now. God has placed you on my heart and I feel this burden as though it were my own, and in some ways it is. Until last year, I had never heard of Matt Chandler but through word of mouth I found the YouTube video “Jesus Wants the Rose” and I knew that God was speaking to me through Matt’s words. Since then I have watched and listened and responded to the challenge to take being a Christian more seriously and to start a real relationship with Christ. I want to thank you for putting that challenge out there and calling for Christians to be accountable and genuine and to live according to the God-breathed scriptures. You have been such an amazing blessing to me in my walk and I am so thankful. You are in my thoughts and prayers, I love you, my family in Christ.

Hi Matt. I am praying for you and your dear family. You have been on my heart HEAVY since I heard about you a couple of weeks ago. I am a Piper fan and Kate McRae follower where I heard about you. I was diagnosed one year ago after my 3rd child was born with an astrocytoma, stage 2, diffuse, inoperable, brain tumor. I am being treated at Duke in Durham NC. I am about to complete one year of Temodar the chemo pill 5 nights out of the month. God has been SO near. He has been so good. We would love to be any help to your family that we can from afar. Know we are praying faithfully. I have a CaringBridge site under sydneygaylord.

I just wanted to thank you for the messages you are speaking/writing during this journey. As a survivor of a brain tumor (which was benign, though, but the journey was an incredibly difficult one at the age of 15 even with the fact that it was benign) I empathize with what you and your family are going through, and I will pray for you. And please know, your messages are SO very encouraging, even for me, years after the surgeries and all……And I know that God IS in control of this (as you know) and it’s incredible how He has chosen to use you in this.

When God wants to drill a man
Author unknown
(taken from Sander’s Spiritual Leadership, 153)
When God wants to drill a man,
And thrill a man,
And skill a man
When God wants to mold a man
To play the noblest part;
When He yearns with all His heart
To create so great and bold a man
That all the world shall be amazed,
Watch His methods, watch His ways!
How He ruthlessly perfects
Whom He royally elects!
How He hammers him and hurts him,
And with mighty blows converts him
Into trial shapes of clay which
Only God understands;
While his tortured heart is crying
And he lifts beseeching hands!
How He bends but never breaks
When his good He undertakes;
How He uses whom He chooses,
And which every purpose fuses him;
By every act induces him
To try His splendor out-
God knows what He’s about.

[...] Matt Chandler, a man whom I admire, was diagnosed with a tumor around Thanksgiving of 2009. He learned that he had one option and one option only : surgery. The complications were there – the risks of doing a surgery around the brain were great – and he knew that his days on earth may soon be limited. What did he do? He created a video to be shown at his Texas church that proudly praised God’s name and announced a victory that, even if his life were to end – God would be able to do something remarkable through him. He took a moment when most of us would give up – and praised God for giving him the opportunities in life…even in the face of death…to give Him glory. I could only hope that, being faced with the same, I could have the same strength and courage that Matt showed in that video. (You can watch the video and read more here.) [...]
