I think it’s amazing that God brought me to your podcasts only months before this diagnosis. It has been a privilege for me to watch you rightly handle the Truth of God “IN THIS”, as you say. I am praying specifically for the things you asked!
Praising God for you and God’s mercies to you. Praying for continued strength, maturity, deepening dependence, and healing. The Father and the Son and the Spirit love us more than we recognize our need to be loved by God. Oh, that you would continue to experience His love in very concrete ways!

Your words & testimony means more to my life, spirit and thoughts more then you’ll ever know right now. Like you said before… It’d be a lot tougher going through something like this if it wasn’t for deep theological convictions on God’s sovereignty. He will use it all for His glory and to point others to the Gospel.
Myself and the Hope Baptist family in Las Vegas are praying for you and your family. You are such an encouragement to me and for so many others. I have been folowing your story after Pastor Vance prayed for you during the service. As I watch this video and listen to your recent sermons, I can’t help myself but to be amazed. Your unshackable faith and joy just produces a conviction that pierces my heart. I am praying for your healing and for Gods Glory to be shined upon many. Love You

I thank you for being a man who honors Jesus, even while experiencing trials. Seeing Jesus work through you is an encouragement for me to do as what Paul says “forgetting what lies behind straining forward to what lies ahead, pressing on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Even amidst all the trials and struggles in life. Thanks for the updates. More than that thanks for showing what a gospel-centered life looks like. I am praying much for Lauren and the children as well as for you. And as I said to you, I especially for Reid as we share the same name . I pray your current trial will be used by God in his life to help him grow into manhood with the same gospel fierceness he sees in his dad.

On my knees in Tampa. Press on, Mattie. Above all, I have been moved by your willingness to accept any challenge whose outcome will see the gospel message spread. You’re a rock.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for the video update.
Please know you have people in Canada praying for you and your family! May you truly sense the Lord in this whole thing. I’ve often postured the point “What if God were to sit down with us before times like this and say, ‘Look, this is what’s coming up for you, but this is what I’m going to do through it. Are you up for it? Are you with Me? I’ll be with you the whole time.’ … ” That always helps me. I know you’re trusting God and you’re helping your family, your church, & others do the same.
Bless you Matt.

As a cancer survivor of four years, I extend my prayers and encouragement to you. This season will change your life forever. I’m confident your already experiencing that! But this season will also galvenize your faith in amazing ways. Odds are you don’t need too much spiritual insight from me. I’m sure you have a great team around you. I do want to say this: odds are you will, at some point, be confronted by the realities of chemo/radiation therapy. It will get hard – physically/mentally/spiritually. At one point, I begged my oncologist – please, no more! When that time comes, be strong and courageous! Your God is mightier than cancer and chemotherapy combined, and he will deliver you through this crucible. Take your naps, eat well, and listen to your body.
Dear Matt and Family,
I am a f/b user and am a friend of Bill Siemons. I heard about your situation
and wanted to let you know that I agree in prayer for a complete healing.
I pray the radiation targets just the tumour cells and that you have the
wisdom to rest and rebuild your strength. I pray for strength for your wife and
children. I pray God’s glory be manifested through all this in the end! God is good all the time and can use this for His glory in amazing ways. And I agree with you that God reviving His people and is going to perform His miracles and wonders as we are faithful to His service! Amen! and may the Lord bless you in abundance.
Matt, If you need any encouragement, or your wife does, you can read more about God’s story, using us, at my website http://www.thesouldier.com.
I underwent a double lung transplant at 32 years old, had 9 additional surgeries due to complications, almost died twice in the OR and was hospitalized for 60 days. God is good, even though I forgot that in the middle of the storm, and He brought me through it. I now am being the active father and husband I always wanted to be but never could. I praise God for my new life, pray for the donor family, and appreciate every moment I have. God has allowed me the privilege of publishing a book soon and I have every intention of sending you one. It’s a Biblical approach to thriving well, not just surviving, with disabilities or illnesses.
I look forward to hearing your success story (however God defines that success) but it’s always neat to know God is using us through our trials.

Praying for you & your family from Denver, PA. You have been a tremendous encouragement. Have really appreciated your preaching/teaching online over the years – from the heart, included stories about your dear family, real-life humor, genuineness & boldness. God has used you mightily and am confident that He will continue to do so.
yesterday in our church service, a member who battled stage 3 cancer (of the colon i think) testified of how his latest blood test (after a year of treatment) revealed that he is cancer free and how God has been with him and his family througout his ordeal. My friends including those who met you at the Desiring God Conference last year and I in Manila who have been blessed by you and your ministry are praying that God will graciously and favorably bless you the same miracle He has granted to our dear church mate, for God’s glory and for your good- as well as the church’s.
Afterwards, he sang this wonderful song by Philipps Craig & Dean:
I read about a man of God
Who gloried in his weakness
And I wish that I could be
More like Him and less like me
Am I to blame for what I’m not
Or is pain the way God teaches me to grow
I need to know
When does the thorn become a blessing
When does the pain become a friend
When does the weakness make me stronger
When does my faith make me whole again
I want to feel His arms around me
In the middle of my raging storm
So that I can see the blessing in the thorn
I’ve heard it said the strength of Christ
Is perfect in my weakness
And the more that I go through
The more I prove the promise true
His love will go to any length
And reaches even now to where I am
But tell me once again
Lord, I have to ask You
On the cross You suffered through
Was there a time You ever doubted
What You already knew.
It brings me great joy to know you are truly feeling the prayers of many. We continue to pray you will not feel many side effects from the radiation or chemo. We will also begin to specifically pray for that very first MRI after your 6 weeks of rest – that it would be clear! We continue to pray especially for your beautiful children – that they may have obedient hearts towards Lauren and loving hearts towards each other as their days are changing to a new normal.
Dear Matt and the Village–all 3 of my sons and their wives are members of your congregation (2 locations). Bruce and I thank God first that they were drawn to Him and then that He led them to ya’ll. We couldn’t ask for a better earthly shepherd and church family. Your illness has broken our hearts, but we rejoice with you that “but God”!!! Thank you Matt for relying totally on Him and showing us how to pray for you. And we are–praying expectantly and praising God for what He’s done and what He will do. Blessings on you and your family. We are praying without ceasing! Love you, Nancy Hildebrand
Matt, thanks for sharing with us not only the difficult things in your suffering, but also the ways in which God is encouraging you. I am thankful to the Lord for the men who suffer well in him. His greatness is on full display in your weekness! thank you
Hello Matt, My brother-in-law is a member of your congregation and told us about your illness. I am a Registered Nurse. For the last 16 years I have been working with people with all sorts of disease, including cancer, using alternative therapies. I call it God’s Pharmacy. I have listened to your wise words since I 1998. I went to Grace in Abilene and Metro in Dallas. I visited your church on a few occasions and my husband and I listen to your sermons online. You have had a great impact on my faith-walk and I am eternally grateful for you.
We are going through the book of Philippians at my church. Of course, one of the resounding themes from that book is joyfulness. Our preacher challenged us this week to tell someone that has been influential in our lives, that we take joy in praying for them.
Matt, I take joy in coming before our Lord to ask for healing, comfort, discernment, patience, and perspective for you and your family. Thank you for what you have done in my life and for how you still encourage me today with your strength.
Third shift factory work feeds my soul because of the pod cast sermons. Serious, 6 hours of u 5 days a week, it’s a tad much, but I cry from the Word that comes from those moments, I laugh n see things like I have not before. P.s. I love the book of Hebrews, yeah I’m thatguy. Lol inone of ur sermons u said nobody loves Hebrews, I know a joke, but still thedepths of that book found in the scriptures of old are such a well of life.
Ok, stay out of trouble, Lord knows I can’t to save my life!
Matt,
Cincinnati is praying for you!
God bless you and thank you for what you are sharing. The truth in Christ radiates from you!
Lord, be with him and heal him!

Thank you for being a servant of Christ. God used your podcast to renew my faith in Him a little over a month ago. Wow, this is just an amazing time of life. I am praying for you and your family. Thank you for speaking truth in Him and letting God use you, you have done more than you realize and have impacted lives you don’t know about. You have treasure in Heaven and I look forward to meeting you there some day. Love you brother,

Believe in the healing that is going on inside of you. We believe in you. In His service and praying for you and the family.
Was watching this during my 2 year old’s quiet time and after she asked what was wrong, she said, “He need God’s band aid!”. Praying for you and your family and the “band aid” of care and healing God can provide.
I’ve never met you face to face, but want to tell you that the online sermons are deeply blessing me and my walk. I thank you and your staff for having so many we can go back and replay. I very much enjoy hearing the TRUTH spoken so straight and to the point. I pray everything you ask and more.
A lady at my church heard me talking about listening to Mark Driscoll podcasts, she said if you like Mark Driscoll, you need to listen to Matt Chandler. I have since listened to at least 30 of your podcasts. They have helped me heal and grow spiritually. Two years ago my family left a very unhealthy church. It was a part of the Word of Faith and Prosperity movement. Your teaching on God’s sovereignty and the truths in his Word have help mend my life. I know there are thousands of stories of lives like mine who have been influenced by you. Thanks!!!!!
I will start praying for you brother. I live in Farmington, MN so I discovered you through podcasts and have been a loyal listener ever since. I just found out this morning that you have cancer. What a test. I am 38yr old with 2 little girls of my own and your story really hits home. As you said, because of this it has created a time to go deeper into our relationship with Christ on behalf of you but really deepening our relationship with him. Call it a 2-fer. I will pray for you brother. Know that you have help me enhance my spiritual life with Christ. Thank you and God bless. Lauren- stay strong.
I’m praying for your healing, strength, and wisdom. I’m also praying for your family. The thought that keeps coming to me through your updates is that you are suffering well. I continue to learn through the example you set, even through this.
Matt – my name is Greg Robirds, I used to be the youth pastor at St. John’s UMC in Texas City. I met you briefly through Dennis Johns at FBTC. Just want you to know I have lifted you up, your family, and your church and ministry. Rest in God in this time, take advantage of what you ordinarily do not have…time when you are required to rest. Invite the Lord into the midst of your rest, and let His presence bring you peace and clarity.
Wow, just watched your latest vid on YouTube. Deep, real, trust & love for your Father shines thru you so clearly. I’m living here in the Middle East with my family trying to shine some light forth. Thanks so much for being such an encouragement to me. In HIM with you, kevin
Matt, Our pastor shared your blogs with my wife whois his ministry assistant and as I watched at home I thought how would I,and many I know, act and react to a similar or same challenge. Im afraid I wouldn’t react the same way, but I know I have been encouraged in my faith andwill take life, health, family nearly so much for granted. Our married daughter said she wanted to visit your church and I intend to listen to your messages and follow your battle and ultimate victory. May the Lord bless you thru it as I know he will because of who He is, we willpray daily until your healing is complete in Jesus name Amen
My family will continue to pray for your healing, your family, and God’s will in all of this. Thank you for encouraging us, as always.

A fellow cancer survivor and brother in the Lord…

God has used you mightily and am confident that He will continue to do so.
hey pastor Matt,
yesterday in our church service, a member who battled stage 3 cancer (of the colon i think) testified of how his latest blood test (after a year of treatment) revealed that he is cancer free and how God has been with him and his family througout his ordeal. My friends including those who met you at the Desiring God Conference last year and I in Manila who have been blessed by you and your ministry are praying that God will graciously and favorably bless you the same miracle He has granted to our dear church mate, for God’s glory and for your good- as well as the church’s.
Afterwards, he sang this wonderful song by Philipps Craig & Dean:
I read about a man of God
Who gloried in his weakness
And I wish that I could be
More like Him and less like me
Am I to blame for what I’m not
Or is pain the way God teaches me to grow
I need to know
When does the thorn become a blessing
When does the pain become a friend
When does the weakness make me stronger
When does my faith make me whole again
I want to feel His arms around me
In the middle of my raging storm
So that I can see the blessing in the thorn
I’ve heard it said the strength of Christ
Is perfect in my weakness
And the more that I go through
The more I prove the promise true
His love will go to any length
And reaches even now to where I am
But tell me once again
Lord, I have to ask You
On the cross You suffered through
Was there a time You ever doubted
What You already knew.
Pastor Matt,
It brings me great joy to know you are truly feeling the prayers of many.
Thank you for your living testimony.
On our knees,
Anna and Scotty
His greatness is on full display in your weekness! thank you

Matt,
I have listened to your wise words since I 1998.
Praying for you from Joplin, MO.
Steph

Was watching this during my 2 year old’s quiet time and after she asked what was wrong, she said, “He need God’s band aid!”. Praying for you and your family and the “band aid” of care and healing God can provide.
Matt,
I’ve never met you face to face, but want to tell you that the online sermons are deeply blessing me and my walk. I thank you and your staff for having so many we can go back and replay. I very much enjoy hearing the TRUTH spoken so straight and to the point. I pray everything you ask and more.
In Him,
JT
Matt,
A lady at my church heard me talking about listening to Mark Driscoll podcasts, she said if you like Mark Driscoll, you need to listen to Matt Chandler. Thanks!!!!!

In Christ,
Greg
