A message from the elders of The Village Church and Providence Church:
The funeral for Barry Keldie, founding pastor of Providence Church in Frisco, Texas, will be Tuesday, March 9, at 2 p.m. at the Highland Village worship center of The Village Church. The worship center is located at 1700 Highland Village Road in Highland Village.
Barry, former student pastor at The Village Church, died Friday morning, March 5. He had long suffered from insomnia and had developed an addiction to prescription sleeping pills. In an effort to overcome the addiction and still get the necessary sleep, Barry had begun to take Tylenol PM. Doctors suspect that as a side effect of the medication, he became disoriented and consumed more than the recommended dosage. Barry’s death was a result of an accidental overdose of Tylenol PM.
He is survived by his wife, Charity, and their two children, Will, age 3, and Layla, age 1.
Please pray for Charity and the children. The family is currently setting up a care fund. Information on the fund will be posted later.

I attended the funeral, even though I didn’t know Barry very well (I just started going to Providence a few months ago). It glorified God in a way I’ve never seen before at a funeral. Matt’s message was so powerful and I hope you’ll make it available so I can share it with others who are struggling. What an encouragement.
This is such a shame. Many times I have self-medicated for pain, sleep, emotional etc. Can be so dangerous, and a “warning” to all to be so careful. Especially when life is stressful, depressing or otherwise seems down. I know in my heart, this loving family, will receive so much Love and Guidance from Christ, through Village and Acts 29. Brother Barry and Family remain in my prayers for such a long time. May His Love lift the Keldie family up and give you Peace and Hope through this. In the Love, Hope and Courage of Christ, MariaJ>NV
My deepest sympathy for Charity, Will, Layla and the Keldie family. As a pharmacist, I have counseled many on the use and misuse of medications. For those who also struggle with prescription medication addiction, there is no easy solution. There is no such thing as a “safe” medication as an alternative. Please seek medical advice on the dangers of all types of drugs.
My prayers go out to all of Barry’s loved ones, that you may find strength and courage through these difficult times, and continue to press into Christ for hope and reassurance.
“But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.” Psalm 33:18-21
Love in the name of Christ,
Danh
Barry was a favourite speaker of the Word for me.
I found his sermons to provide an amazing insight for me as I read through my bible.
The shock I felt when I found out that he had gone home went through my body like a sharp wave.
In my opinion, this is the enemy trying to do whatever he can to this great church and its servants.
In the Name of my Saviour, I rebuke all and any presence. The enemy is a cross dresser and deserves the end that is waiting for him.
May God hold u and the Keldie family in His precious Arms and may the Peace of Jesus cover your minds, wills, intellects and emotions.
